Course Facilitators

Taylor O’Connor, founder of Everyday Peacebuilding

Hey, I'm Taylor. I’m a big ‘peace nerd’ obsessed about exploring creative ways to build peace. I worked for years as a ‘peacebuilding specialist’ with a bunch of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and UN agencies. I've met inspiring peacebuilders all over the world and seen firsthand the challenges they face—both in their peace efforts and in navigating the complex systems that shape their work.

I believe that effective peacebuilding doesn't require fancy degrees or complex theories. Passionate individuals just need practical tools and a supportive community to take their peace efforts to the next level.

That's why I launched Everyday Peacebuilding in 2020. I've researched thousands of peace efforts worldwide and use what I learned to create practical frameworks and tools that you can use today. Whether you're bridging divides in communities affected by conflict, advocating for demilitarization, or bringing peace education to your school, I understand your challenges—and I’m here to help.

My courses combine practical tools with flexible approaches that respect your knowledge and experience while helping you hone your unique abilities for building peace. Through them, you'll gain the practical skills needed to make tangable change on the social issues you care most about while sustaining impact in the longterm.

Dr. Monica Carrer, founder of Everyday Peace Initiative/Community

Hey, I'm Monica. I've dedicated my professional life to understanding how people build peace in everyday contexts. With a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies and fieldwork experience in conflict-affected communities in India, I've seen how local knowledge drives meaningful peace initiatives.

I'm the author of 'How People Respond to Violence' (Palgrave Macmillan) and multiple peer-reviewed articles on peace, conflict, and resistance. I currently work with the Journal of Resistance Studies, engaging with research on nonviolent resistance and social change.

I believe quality peace research isn't just for academics. Communities already possess valuable insights—they just need tools to organize their knowledge into credible research that creates change.

That's why I co-founded the Everyday Peace Initiative and created the Everyday Peace Community platform. My experiences as a researcher, mother, and peace advocate have shaped my understanding of peace as something we build in our homes, communities, and digital spaces.

As co-facilitator of the Conflict Analysis and Peace Research Made Simple eCourse, I'm excited to help you develop skills to conduct actionable research that honors your experience and contributes to broader social change.
