Course Facilitator
Taylor O’Connor, founder of Everyday Peacebuilding
Hey, I'm Taylor. I’m a big ‘peace nerd’ obsessed about exploring creative ways to build peace. I worked for years as a ‘peacebuilding specialist’ with a bunch of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and UN agencies. I've met inspiring peacebuilders all over the world and seen firsthand the challenges they face—both in their peace efforts and in navigating the complex systems that shape their work.
I believe that effective peacebuilding doesn't require fancy degrees or complex theories. Passionate individuals just need practical tools and a supportive community to take their peace efforts to the next level.
That's why I launched Everyday Peacebuilding in 2020. I've researched thousands of peace efforts worldwide and use what I learned to create practical frameworks and tools that you can use today. Whether you're bridging divides in communities affected by conflict, advocating for demilitarization, or bringing peace education to your school, I understand your challenges—and I’m here to help.
My courses combine practical tools with flexible approaches that respect your knowledge and experience while helping you hone your unique abilities for building peace. Through them, you'll gain the practical skills needed to make tangable change on the social issues you care most about while sustaining impact in the longterm.
"This course is very important to upgrade my knowledge about peacebuilding. After surviving the genocide in Tigray, I wanted to learn how to build peace in my community. The Foundations course helped me understand about positive peace versus negative peace, and how to teach these concepts to others.
The information about peacebuilding partnerships between international and local organizations was very useful to me. Through this course, I learned about International Cities of Peace and successfully registered Mekelle City, the capital of Tigray, as a member. I am now using sport activities for peace, reconciliation and healing in my community.
The language used in the training videos was clear to understand even though English is my second language. I am happy to recommend this course to anyone who wants to promote peace in their community."
- Gebreegziabher Tadele, community peacebuilder from Tigray, Ethiopia
