Three courses. One learning pathway.
The certificate program takes you through a structured progression, with each course building on the one before it.
Foundations of Peacebuilding reveals the full landscape of peacebuilding and helps you find your place in it. Using our Peacebuilder Typology, you'll discover your unique strengths, explore organizations and networks connected to your peacebuilder types, discover career and life trajectories you never knew existed, and build a roadmap to guide you on your peacebuilding journey. This comprehensive understanding of the full spectrum of peacebuilding becomes the foundation for everything that follows.
Practical Conflict Analysis builds on that foundation by equipping you with the analytical skills to produce your own professional-quality conflict analysis of any conflict or social issue you choose. You'll work through our original conflict analysis process using our Typology of Violence and thematic analysis tools built from the Peacebuilder Typology, uncovering causes of conflict that conventional frameworks aren't designed to surface and identifying entry points to transform them. The analysis you produce here becomes the basis for your strategic plan.
Strategic Planning for Peacebuilders turns your analysis into action. You'll work through our 10-step strategic planning process, using our Comprehensive Map of Peacebuilding Entry Points and our Peacebuilding Theory of Change Builder to produce a complete, professional-quality strategic plan for a creative and effective peace initiative you can launch.
By the end of the full pathway, you'll have your peacebuilding roadmap, a rigorous analysis of any conflict or social issue you choose, and a strategic plan designed to creatively and effectively transform the causes of conflict you've identified, whether you're working within or outside of formal systems.
What's included in the Certificate Program
What Makes Everyday Peacebuilding Different
Independent by Design
We operate outside formal peacebuilding systems and are not influenced by donor priorities that constrain most peacebuilding efforts. We support our students to find creative approaches to transform the causes of conflict as they define them, in ways that traditional peacebuilding efforts cannot.
Original Tools & Frameworks
Our courses are built around original tools and frameworks that exist nowhere else, all developed from over a decade of research mapping 5,000+ peace organizations worldwide, with insights on creative and effective ways to build peace drawn from 800+ community surveys across 100+ countries.
A Global Community of Peacebuilders
Our community includes peacebuilders from all walks of life in over 100 countries, building peace in a wide variety of ways. Through our scholarship program, our optional annual live cohorts bring together participants from diverse contexts and backgrounds to share experiences, perspectives, and ideas. Connect with fellow peacebuilders, support one another, and build friendships that last a lifetime.
The Peacebuilder Typology
One framework that grows with you through all three courses.
Our Peacebuilder Typology maps hundreds of ways to build peace, organized into 24 types of peacebuilders across 9 categories. Developed from over a decade of research, a database of 5,000+ peace organizations worldwide, and insights from 800+ community surveys across 100+ countries, it is the most comprehensive mapping of peacebuilding practice available anywhere.
In the certificate program, the Typology deepens at every stage. In Foundations, it helps you discover your peacebuilding superpower and explore career and life trajectories you never knew existed. In Practical Conflict Analysis, the Typology was used to create thematic analysis tools you will use to analyze nuanced conflict dynamics on any theme you choose and identify suitable entry points for conflict transformation. In Strategic Planning, it opens up the full spectrum of creative programming possibilities for the peace initiatives you design.
This is what makes the certificate more than three separate courses. The Typology connects your self-discovery to your analysis to your strategic plan, creating a through-line that no combination of conventional trainings can replicate.
Total individual price: $1,050 ($350 per course x 3)

Who this certificate is for:
Humanitarian and development professionals who want to integrate peacebuilding into their work. You work in development, humanitarian response, or related fields and you can see how conflict dynamics shape the issues you're tackling. Whether you want to lead dedicated peacebuilding initiatives or find creative ways to integrate peacebuilding into existing humanitarian and development programming, you want to be able to do it confidently, without relying on external consultants or support. The certificate equips you with original tools and a comprehensive understanding of the full spectrum of peacebuilding to do both.
Professionals in other fields looking to integrate peacebuilding into their work. You're an expert in public health, environmental work, technology, education, or another field, and you're interested in applying your expertise to building peace. You want to understand the full spectrum of peacebuilding so you can find creative and effective ways to integrate it into what you're already doing, using original tools and frameworks to bring something genuinely new to your field.
Professionals transitioning into the peacebuilding field. You're ready to make peacebuilding your career focus and you want more than a single course or workshop to get there. You want a structured pathway that gives you a comprehensive understanding of the full spectrum of peacebuilding, conflict analysis skills, and strategic planning capabilities to enter the field with confidence and a credential that signals you're ready.
Experienced practitioners looking to bring something new to their work. You've been doing this work for years, but you're tired of the same conventional approaches and feeling constrained by the limitations of the systems you work in. You want to discover new and creative ways to build peace, re-energize your practice with original tools and frameworks, and expand your sense of what's possible beyond what traditional systems offer.
Activists, community organizers, and independent practitioners building peace outside of traditional systems. You're not waiting for an institution to give you permission. You're building peace in your own way, in your own community or across borders, and you want a deeper understanding of conflict dynamics and creative, strategic tools to transform conflict, war, or militarism at the root.
If you're ready for comprehensive preparation in peacebuilding built entirely on original tools and frameworks that exist nowhere else, the certificate program is the most effective and affordable path available.
What's included in the certificate program:

Course Facilitator
Taylor O'Connor, founder of Everyday Peacebuilding
I'm Taylor, a big peace nerd at heart, long obsessed with exploring creative ways people build peace around the world. I got my Master's in Peace Education from the UN-Mandated University for Peace back in 2009, and I've worked as a peacebuilding specialist with NGOs and UN agencies in many countries since that time.
Driven by a curiosity about all the ways people build peace inside and outside of traditional systems, I began researching and mapping peacebuilding practice worldwide. After a decade of research, I built a database of 5,000+ peace organizations and collected data from 800+ community members around the world.
That research informed the creation of the Peacebuilder Typology, a framework mapping hundreds of ways to build peace organized across 24 distinct types of peacebuilders. It is the most comprehensive mapping of peacebuilding practice available anywhere. From this framework and research background, I've also developed a range of other original tools to help people from all walks of life find creative and effective ways to build peace.
I created Everyday Peacebuilding because I believe peace is built in a wide variety of ways, often by people who don't have fancy degrees and who operate outside traditional systems. Anyone can build peace. They just need to learn about the many diverse ways to build peace, get access to practical tools, and be part of a supportive community. Whether you're entering the field for the first time or you've been doing this work for decades, we are pleased for you to join our learning community. I hope to see you inside.
What peacebuilders say about our courses...
"I thoroughly enjoyed using this eCourse both as a student and as an educator. I used the eCourse materials at the beginning of a graduate course I was teaching at my university, and each of the 20 students had a similarly refreshing, empowering experience. Beginners found clarity regarding what first concrete steps to take, experienced peaceworkers refreshed their commitment to make a change, and veterans found new directions in their respective journeys."
- Dr. Olivier Urbain, Director of the Min-On Music Research Institute, Adjunct Faculty at the Soka University Graduate School of International Peace Studies
"The training presents peacebuilding concepts simply, helping you reflect on your journey and become the peacebuilder you aspire to be. I'm happy to be part of this community."
- Fatoumata Djire, Peacebuilder-Activist from Mali
